ABOUT
ABOUT
To TARE is to zero out the container weight from its contents, and the chosen name of TARE ZERO after shedding genderism from their identity.
TARE is a trans experimental artist from the Pennsylvania Appalachians. Their archive of work compounds, expands, and weaves together through conceptual quilting. Through a queen lens, they study the intersections between Qabalism, Tarot, Eastern & Western Astrology, Soto Zen, Tibetan Buddhism, Sufism, and Native American spiritualities.
TARE received their Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Practice from Portland State University with an emphasis in identity, queer theory, and sustainable textile design. Additionally, they pursued coursework at PRATT Institute, California College of the Arts, School of Visual Arts, and Rhode Island School of Design.
While at PSU, they volunteered with the brain injury community at Art on the Brain in Portland Oregon. Prior to the pandemic, they volunteered with adult artists with disabilities at Creative Growth in Oakland. They have also taught art to children.
